Great food and really good margaritas. Not the easiest place to get to but the food is good and the servers are always friendly and helpful. I'm very picky about good Mexican food. This place has good, authentic Mexican food.

So you like greasy Mexican food and huge portions and huge beers? Then this is your place. Come get a 32 or XX with your Tres Amigos platter. The food might hurt your stomach but it will leave your taste buds happy! The bacon wrapped shrimp are pretty tasty (smothered in diablo sauce). The prices are good for how much grub they serve you. Also, chips and salsa and hot re-fried beans are brought to every table when you arrive. A good way to down 3000 calories :)

Inattentive wait staff, overpriced for what little value there is. I had the chicken fajitas, the chicken was chewy and bland, the vegetables were not fully sautéed. I thought that there was no such thing as a bad fajita but sadly I was mistaken.

We had dinner here last night while shopping this side of Fort Collins. Decided to try it based on the mainly positive reviews on Yelp we read. We were pleasantly surprised at our experience- very good service, very good food and generous portions that were given. The deluxe burrito was so big we took half home for lunch today. Very friendly wait staff as the waiter told us they also had locations in Cheyenne and Estes Park. Wish it were closer to Loveland, definitely will return again when we are in the neighborhood. To the haters, stick with Taco Bell if you must- then you won't slow us down from getting a table sooner in here.

Everything I've ever had here had been delicious. They have a woe selection of beers and margaritas.

People scream authentic at this place. It's not to me. Sadly... not at all... I wasn't impressed at all and the lack of flavor was BLAH. It was taco bell on a plate at best.

Authentic. To have pulpo as a civeche, that's for people who love great food. And separates the people that just don't get it.

Amazing meal everything was excellent! Portions and crazy big. Shared a meal with my teen daughter and we couldn't even finish it. Tried the enchilada beef (which if a Mexican restaurant can't to enchilada don't eat there) it was very good, the green chili burrito Amazing and the tamale pork- extremely good but warning it's spicy. Service was good as well.

Really really good food but service is lacking and they get our take out orders wrong every time. Unfortunately or fortunately we've found another great place in town because the manager was rude.

I've eaten here three times. Average prices, large portions, fresh tasting, but a bit bland for my taste. On my fourth visit we got up and left before the waitress came. EVERY time I've been in this place it's been packed and there are always screaming kids. I don't go out to eat to hear screaming kids. It's not the restaurants fault... I'm guessing it's due to the lack of other restaurants nearby this busy hotel intersection?

After calling to check seating (because they dont take any reservations on weekends.) Upon arrival, we were told 10 minutes to wait, no big deal. *party of 5, to clarify* That would have been the case, but moticed there were a full size booth, and a booth capable of fitting 5 in it empty. While waiting, a party of three, and a party of two came in after us. They were politely greeted and immediately seated in the booths i previously mentioned. Way to ignore people who were waiting a far longer period. After this, all the waitresses abandoned us up front for another few minutes. When another booth opened up, a waitress dully came up and seemed utterly depressed to be seating us. Upon walking to our seat, she did not serve us at the booth, but a defunct joining of an akward long table. Asking why we couldnt sit at the clearly empty and cleaned booth, we were met with a sarcastic and moody grin, with no verbal response. ¿no hablo ingles? Making a long run short, the chips and salsa were okay, the beans served were a watery paste with bean fragments. The meal itself was pretty spot on, and honestly, the male waiters were very kind to us, and checked on us often, making sure we were comfortable. The horchata is pretty dang good, close to what my grandmother made me as a child, of which are the only saving graces of this review. Overall, the experience could have been better, maybe i just came in on a bad evening? But either way, theres no need for a level is apathy from people who need to have good people skills. Maybe if the staff attitude improves, i'll come back, but until then, sorry, there are other mexican restaurants to enjoy.

Some of the best Mexican food I've had I years. The service is outstanding, very clean great decor. Everything on the menu is amazing. Great prices, huge portions, great atmosphere. I tell you if your ever in the area it's worth dropping by, you won't be disappointed. Best re-fried beans I've ever had....

I read reviews on Hacienda Real and that is the reason I chose this restaurant along with the fact it was in the same parking lot as my hotel. They took my order for a Margarita, I ordered a half and half, the waiter didn't know what that was but when I explained it to him, he was more than happy to oblige. Needless to say, it was fantastic. Chips salsa and bean dip were brought out, I was pleasantly surprised. Now for the meal, can you say "delicioso"? I ordered the Chicken Con Crema....fantastic. Thank you for a wonderful meal.

Hacienda Real is well off the beaten path for me -- the occasion for my visit was the awards banquet for a dog training club I belong to, and since we have a few members in Cheyenne the just-off-the-interstate location was for their convenience (and one WY member did actually show up, so I guess it was worth it). It could be that my expectations were set pretty low, but I was pleasantly surprised with the experience. I came a bit late, so there were already big baskets of chips on the table with salsa and a bean dip. I preferred the bean dip, and actually love that they offered a bean dip since it's not something you see that often (well, unless you specifically order it ...) I ordered the enchilada trio, which included pork with green chile, chicken with mole, and ground beef with red chile enchilada/sauce combos. I figured that at least one would be to my liking, but in fact I enjoyed all three. There wasn't any heat to any of the sauces so if you're a chile-head you will no doubt find them bland, but I found them flavorful and closer to what I've actually encountered in Mexico. The chicken enchilada was my fave. The drinks menu had many variations on the margarita theme, which I pondered for a while before just settling on having beer instead -- and yay, they had Negra Modelo, my vote for best Mexican beer, period. Service was attentive, and I got a kick out of how our waiter called everyone "senorita" without regard for the number of grey hairs we had on our heads. The main downside, as others have mentioned, is the noise. Sure, the fact that we were a large group didn't help, but even so the conversations from other tables seemed to be bouncing all around. If you can view it as a "lively" atmosphere you might find it fun, but if you are looking for quiet this isn't the place. I'm not sure I would go out of my way to come here, but certainly would stop in if I were in the area and was famished (oh, I forgot to mention portions -- generous, to say the least!) and would certainly recommend it to any of my dog trialing friends when they are in town for an event and staying in the motels out that way.

GREAT LOCATION IF YOU ARE STAYING IN THE HOTEL NEXT DOOR!! What cute and close restaurant to my hotel. Darling inside, relatively clean, and a friendly staff. They seemed to talk between themselves about personal issues, but I was sitting up front waiting for my to go order. I ordered the chicken chimichanga, which took quite a while to come out of the kitchen. As soon as I got back to my room, I was ready to dive in, but alas.......cold, not even lukewarm :-( Ate it anyway, starving... no flavor !!! It was the soggiest chmi ever. I was under the impression that chimis were deep fried. Hmmm... at least the price was right. Good Luck, you'll need it

Pretty great Mexican food out in the middle of no where. Great pitcher margarita's and helpful staff.

This is authentic Mexican food, not the psuedo-Mexican most Americans are used to. I grew up travelling to Mexico and went to school there for a couple years. I'm always disappointed at "authentic" Mexican food places in the States. This place is great. Decor, service, ambiance, and especially THE FOOD. Traditional "salsa" for chips in Mexico is just that, a thin sauce. Chunky salsa is not normal, that is called "pico de gallo" and is actually used as a condiment. Real's was perfect and served with refried beans, too, which is a nice addition. I've had so many items that it is hard to talk about them all, but I will tell you that their Mojarra Frita is brilliant. It is a whole fish, cross-hatched and deep fried, then served with all the fxings to make tacos. This is a very traditional dish and hard to find outside of Mexico. IT IS SO GOOD. And the seafood paella? Mmmmmm! I love this place, my mother loves this place, all our friends who are from Mexico or grew up in a Mexican family love it. Oh, and for the amount of food you receive, their prices are CHEAP. We always have a ton of food to take home for another meal.

So its hard to find good Mexican food in Fort Collins but this place gets my vote. Its not the best I have ever had but for Fort Collins standards its #1. The beans are great and everything has always been really fresh. Prices are reasonable and service has always been great. Its a consistently good place.

Considering your options in the area if you are staying at any of the hotels around the Hacienda it is your best option. The food was good, the bar had a great selection of beer and liquor as well as a few TVs and the staff were great. Super fast service, I had my burrito in less then 10 minutes and it was massive!!!

I dined here, while on a business trip. Excellent mexican food. The combination plates offer plenty of food, which I took back to the hotel for lunch the next day. And the margaritas were strong. The decor is beautiful, feels like a Spanish hacienda indeed. I highly recommend you try it if you're in the Fort Collins area.

A letter to the company... I've been to the Hacienda Real in Fort Collins about 5 times since it opened. It's convenient to my work and house, so I've wanted to like it... I give up! I should have known the first week... my food of choice to judge a Mexican restaurant is Chile Verde. It was bland, poorly cooked, and I would guess it to be the worst I've ever had. OK, a couple months later, we needed a restaurant on the way somewhere, and it was a good location to meet a friend. The Cancun salad was actually quite good. Way too large, but that's hard to complain about. OK, another few weeks, let's go to lunch... another disappointing meal for everyone at my company. Tonight, we were looking for a quick meal, and your restaraunt was close by... It was crowded and noisy. Well, that's not surprising given that it's located near a bunch of hotels, and indeed, the patrons didn't look local. The salsa was thin, and the chips were cold. Bean dip was OK. I had vegetarian fajitas. They were burned. Not well done. Burned. Charred. Worthless. My wife had a beef chimichanga. She said it seemed to have come from the microwave... soggy. She ate a part of it, and abandoned the rest. Even before we left she said she was nauseous, but is too nice to say anything at the table. She said is seemed like the taco seasoning mix wasn't mixed in... had big clumps of it. She is still feeling crappy. I hope you get the point. Apparently your cooks can make a salad (no cooking required), but completely fail, every time, when asked to actually cook anything. We don't be back... ever, and neither will anyone in Fort Collins that I know and offer advice to. I suppose given the location, you will always have transient customers, but seriously, do you have no pride?

Every time I try a new Mexican restaurant in Fort Collins, I'm hoping that I find one that is fantastic and blows me away. For the most part, food from south of the border has been mediocre to average in my opinion. Hacienda Real, alas, does not really change that. It's certainly not bad and thanks to its location near my house and decent pricing, I'll probably be going back from time to time. It's a nice atmosphere, good service, and the margaritas are good and quite giant if you get the large size. I wanted to like it more, though, and came back a little disappointed.

This place was awesome. Super tired after a long day of travel, and this place sat 11, without a reservation. Service was fast and super friendly!

Kind of a weird name for a restaurant. Not the Hacienda part but the 'Real' part. I wanted to like this place more but.... I-just-didn't! This place is where a Burger King used to be which got closed down by the state. Whoops! No, this place is better than Burger King. They remodeled the place and looks much bigger than you ever could think. Atmosphere is cute. I ordered an Asada(steak ) Taco. It was decent but again I will say that I have had better. I also had what they called the Espresso Burrito. It had Tomatillo sauce on top of it. That was pretty tasty and was really the shining star for the whole burrito. The burrito was huge! It had rice, beans, pork, and who knows what else all wrapped in the tortilla. I ate most of the burrito but couldn't finish it. It was all...eh... ok. Shortly after eating there though I got indigestion real bad... I don't know if it was the food or if I ate too fast but I was concerned that I might be getting a touch of food poisoning. To Hacienda Real's credit they did not give me food poisoning... I rallied quite nicely as the day wore on. One of the hazards of being a power Yelper and trying lots of different places I guess. BURP! :P

I took my parents and in-laws there. I was a little worried because my father uses a hearing aid and I was concerned he wouldn't be able to hear over the music. I asked if they would mind turning down the music a bit for him and they turned it completely off. It was the first time he could hear in a restaurant in I don't know how long. It was great. The staff was great! The food was wonderful and very reasonably priced. I absolutely loved the Sopas. You have to try them! I would have given a 5, but they forgot the rice and beans on two of the dishes. But, then again, the main course was so huge that they really didn't miss it too much. Oh, and they had killer $2.99 Margaritas!

Came here with the kids for an early dinner on Saturday. Pros: - Seated right away - Friendly team - Chips and salsa were good (not great) - Food was good - Pricing was great (esp: the kids menu deals) - Server was very accommodating of the kids' customization request (e.g., 2x the beans, no rice, etc, etc). Cons: - Seemed to take a long time to get food, esp: since not many people where there that early in the day. We'd good back.

Service was very good for our group of 6. Margarita was a bit watered down, but not surprising given its huge size. Had it been made properly, I would have been very happy after about 3/4. The food was decent, but not amazing. I had fajitas, which came out long after the rest of the food, but they were sizzling hot and had a nice flavor. At the end of the meal I had eaten way too much, but was happy overall. Given its convenient location to our home, we will be back I am sure.

Wonderful food and service! My wife and I were stranded by a spring snowstorm and this place was next to our motel. I had a pork burrito ranchero while my wife had the spinach enchiladas. Wow! The burrito was filled with large, juicy chunks of seasoned pork with rice and beans and smothered with cheese, pico de gallo, lettuce, and good-sized dollops of sour cream and guacamole. some of the best I've ever had. My wife loved her enchiladas. Definitely give this place a try!

Ventured out for a solo lunch & was fearing the worst, given the disappointments & mediocrity of Mexican food restaurants in FoCo but WHAT a pleasant surprise! Delightful service & surroundings. Extensive menu of traditional & more daring options. I use my craving for a well done (soft!) relleno as the measuring stick for the menu's success & trust me, this one passed the test big time. Minor quibble: couldn't decide if the salsa was fresh or canned....it had a tinny, tomato-y paste base that didn't ring quite authentic. Major quibble: LOUD, LOUD, LOUD - this room reverberates with TVs, music, a screaming 2 year old, the 2 year old's screaming mother (honestly lady!) and large parties enjoying themselves. A full house might be unpleasant but I have plenty of reasons to return & try something new. Sopas, I'm betting.

I ate dinner here tonight with my mom and a friend. We were served chips and salsa and a very tasty bean dip immediately after we sat down. We waited...and waited...and waited for a waitress. We watched a family who was seated after us get waited on first. The waitresses seemed to be confused about who was supposed to wait on us. They were talking between themselves. Finally one took our drink and food orders. My mom ordered a chicken tostada, our friend Donna ordered a chimichanga and I ordered a chicken enchilada, all with rice and beans. We thought the rice had a funky flavor, like it was old or something? The beans were ok, very little flavor. The tostada, chimichanga, and enchilada were nothing special. I could make a better enchilada at home. With so many Mexican restaurants in the area, I don't think I'll be back.

Frozen margaritas are delicious, stout and reasonably priced. Not too sugary like other restaurants. Chips and salsa were okay. The soup was super greasy and the tacquitos were soggy. However, the manager dealt with it very well and had great customer service. I would definitely return to have a couple drinks. Not sure about the food yet. Customer service was superb.

The 1st time I ordered a shredded beef burrito to go (which costs more), they gave me hamburger instead. The 2nd time I ordered the Menudo. This is the worst menudo I have ever had. It tastes like water with a little chili powder in it. And almost no hominy. Never, never again!

My family found this restaurant kind of on accident. My mom had to use a bathroom so we happened to stop here. It was a very busy Friday night when we came in but we were sat at a clean table right away. We were given chips, salsa, and a bean dip right away. Our waitress was over in a few minutes and had our drinks out quickly. Despite how busy the restaurant was at the time our waitress always kept our drink, chips, and salsa full. Our waitress was not overly attentive but she managed to keep us and the tables around us happy. Our food was out in no more than 15 minutes. I had ordered the chicken chimichanga covered with cheese sauce and my mom ordered the deluxe burrito with ground beef. The chimichanga was very good. It was still crispy and the chicken was nicely flavored. I was a little disappointed with the size of the chimichanga. It seemed quite a bit smaller than the picture, but maybe I was just jealous since my mom's burrito was huge. My mom enjoyed the burrito but was not blown away. My only complaint would be the lack of spice in anything. There was almost no spice in the salsa or green chili. Overall, I was impressed by the service especially on such a busy night. We were taking our time and we were still in and out in about an hour. The food isn't anything spectacular but it is still good. The decor is very fitting and sets a nice mood. I will be back!

This was fabulous. Loved the bean dip served with the salsa and chips. Extensive menu and excellent vegetarian options. I had a chimichanga with very fresh mushrooms, peppers, corn, carrots, and broccoli- delicious. No wait on a Friday night at 6 pm. Very friendly service. Extensive menu of appetizers and desserts. Very large meals and good price. Will be back next week.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
